35. Daniel BLYTH was born
in 1729. He was baptized on 20 Sep 1729 in Elmstead, Essex. He was made Executor
to the will of his father, Daniel Blyth, on 4 Jun 1752. He was a Farmer in Jan
1768 in Elmstead, Essex. He was made Executor to the will of his Uncle, Isaac
Blyth, on 28 Jan 1768. He inherited the rights and interest in Sneating Hall
from his Uncle, Isaac Blyth, on 23 Jun 1768 in Kirby-le-Soken, Essex. "I
Give and Devise unto my Nephew Daniel Blyth (Son of my late Brother Daniel Blyth)
and to the Executors Admons and Assigns of the said Daniel Blyth my Nephew all
my Right and Interest that I shall have at the time of my Decease to all that
Messuage or Tenement and Farm called Sneating Hall and the Lands and Tenements
there unto belonging situate lying and being in Kirby in the County of Essex
aforesaid now in the Occupation of Peter Baines or his Assigns and to all the
____ ____ belonging to the Manor of Sneating Hall in the said County of Essex".
"All the Rest and Residue of my Real and Personal Estates whatsoever and
wheresoever (after payment of my Just Debts Legacies and other Funeral Charges)
I Give Devise and bequeath unto my Nephew James Blyth of Langham in the County
of Essex Farmer and Daniel Blyth of Elmstead in the said County Farmer Equally
to be divided between them share alike".
He inherited land and property in Thorpe le Soken from his father on 20 Aug
1775. The land and property was occupied by William How when his father wrote
his will. From the profits of this farm Daniel had to pay his mother, Ann, £24
a year. Daniel was also to receive the land and property his father had recently
bought in Elmstead and Wivenhoe. After paying his fathers debts Daniel would
receive 2/3rds of the residue of the estate.
His fathers wish was that Daniel and his wife, Elizabeth, were allowed to stay
living in and working the farm in Arlesford. The farm had been left in trust
to Daniel's uncle, Isaac. He signed a Will on 14 Oct 1779. The Executors to
his will were John Woodruff, James Blyth the elder of Langham, Gentleman, John
Simons the elder of Elmstead, Gentleman and his son, Daniel. He made a Codicil
to the will on 19 Jun 1782. He died on 22 Jul 1782 in Elmstead, Essex. His
Will was proved on 10 Aug 1782 in London. The will was proved in front of James
Blyth, the Elder, John Simons and Daniel Blyth, the son. He was buried in Elmstead,
Essex. Memorial Inscription: In memory of / DANIEL BLYTH / late of this parish
/ who departed this life / June 22 1782 / aged 52 years. 4th June 1752: When
his father made his will Daniel was living in Arlesford. The farm belonged to
his father but Daniel had sole use of it until his death at which time it would
pass to his Uncle, Isaac. Daniel also was bequeathed his fathers premises and
land in Thorpe le Soken which was occupied by William How and land, woods and
premises in Elmstead and Wivenhoe where his father was currently living. Daniel
received 2/3rds of the residue of his fathers estate once all the debts were
paid, his mother receiving the other 1/3rd.
Jan 1768: Daniel was living in Elmstead at the time his uncle wrote his will.
He was married to Elizabeth KENDAL on 8 Oct 1751 in Elmstead, Essex. Marriage
Licence: 1751 - Daniel Blyth of Elmstead and Robert Kendal of the same bound
Daniel, 22, to Elizabeth Kendal, 25. He obtained a marriage license on 8 Oct
1751. Daniel, 22, and Robert Kendal paid £200 bond. Elizabeth was aged
25. They were all from Elmstead. The marriage was due to take place in Elmstead.
Elizabeth KENDAL was born in 1726. She inherited £100 from
her husband on 10 Aug 1782. Elizabeth was to receive the £100 three months
after her husbands death. She was also bequeathed some of his personal posessions,
not exceeding £100 in value. She died on 1 Jun 1793. She was buried on
5 Jun 1795 in Elmstead, Essex. Memorial Inscription: In memory of / ELIZABETH
the wife of / DANIEL BLYTH / who departed this life / June 1 1793 / aged 69 years.

Margaret BLYTH was baptized on 21 Sep 1759 in Elmstead, Essex. She inherited
land and property in in Elmstead from her father on 10 Aug 1782. Margaret was
to receive a "copyhold messuage or tenement with barns stables yards gardens
orchard lands meadows pastures feedings appurtenances and hereditaments known
as Hall Gesses or Hallingers and Threshers". This was approximately 35 acres
of land belonging to the Manor of Elmstead Hall. At the time her father wrote
his will the property was occupied by Simon Balls. Margaret was also to receive
£500 a year after her fathers death.
In a Codicil to her fathers will Margaret's legacy of £500 was reduced to
£350. She signed a Will on 12 Nov 1835 in Colchester, Essex. Margaret
was a Spinster when she wrote her will. She was living in Lexden. The Executors
to her will were her nephew, William Blyth, and her friend, William Carrington
Simpson. She was buried on 17 Jun 1843 in Stanway, Colchester, Essex. Died
Single aged 87. Lived in Lexden, Essex at time of death. Her Will was proved
on 14 Jul 1843. Mary Blyth stood in as Executor to her Aunts will following
the death of her father.

Sarah BLYTH was baptized on 19 Mar 1761 in Elmstead, Essex. She inherited
land and property from her father on 10 Aug 1782 in Wivenhoe, Essex. Sarah was
left a "Copyhold messuage or tenement with all barns stables yards gardens
orchard lands meadows pasture feedings hereditaments and appurtenances"
known as Double Barns in Wivenhoe. It consisted approx. 30 acres and belonged
to the Manor of Wivenhoe.
If Sarah were to die the Executors of her fathers will were instructed to sell
the property and split the proceeds between her children. If they were under
21 years, the proceeds were to be invested in Government Securities and the interest
used to pay for the children's upbringing and education. Should Sarah die not
having children the proceeds of the sale were to be divided between her living
brothers and sisters.
In a codicil to her fathers will Sarah was also left £300. If she had not
reached the age of 21when her father died then the money was to be invested and
the interest was to be used for her upbringing, education and clothes. She died
in Jul 1786. She was buried on 25 Jul 1786 in Elmstead, Essex. Memorial Inscription:
In loving memory of / SARAH daughter of / DANIEL AND ELIZABETH BLYTH / who departed
this life / July 26 1786 / AGED 2(0 or 3) years.

Samuel BLYTH was baptized on 2 Mar 1763 in Elmstead, Essex. He was buried
on 15 Oct 1770 in Elmstead, Essex.

Martha BLYTH was baptized on 2 Jul 1766 in Elmstead, Essex. She was buried
on 18 Nov 1767 in Elmstead, Essex.

Martha BLYTH was baptized on 6 May 1768 in Elmstead, Essex. She inherited
£1000 from her father on 10 Aug 1782. Martha was to receive the £1000
when she reached 21 years. Until then it was to be invested. If she died before
reaching 21 the money was to be split between her living brothers and sisters.
In a Codicil to her fathers will Martha's legacy was reduced to £850, the
same conditions applied. |
